Do you think it would be ok if I wore a mask? Of course I need to go out and buy one since I don’t have one. I don’t want to get sick b/c usually it hits me hard. Who knows if it’s the dreaded swine flu that this person has.

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010This is very irritating for me. I have had two friends come down with fever and coughing and body aches. Our college campus has many many cases of the H1N1 virus (swine flu) on it. Yet, when my friend went to the doctor, they swabbed her nose and said it tested negative for flu but was a “highly infectious virus” and that she should wear a mask and stay at home and be around no more than 3 people at a time. My mom called today and said that someone as her office came down with the same symptoms and went to the same clinic and they swabbed her and told her the EXACT same thing. “It is not swine flu but it is a very contagious virus and you should stay home and wear a mask around your family.” This seems very strange to me. First off, shouldn’t some random *** virus have a name? Second of all, why did it show up on a test designed to indicate the flu virus?
Could they possibly just be saying it isn’t flu to prevent hype and panic?
