How can I get over my phobia of needles. I’m a 17 yr old male (please don’t make fun of me, I can’t help my phobia) and I’m terrified of needles. It is not the pain that bothers me, shots to not hurt me, I have both of my ears pierced. I got the left one pierced first, the right was over a year later. The left one did not bother me, but when I got the right one done, I almost fainted. Every time I have ever got a shot I have had to lay down and wait almost thirty minutes because I get tunnel vision and get really hot and sweaty and clammy and pale and almost faint. I have never fainted but have have extremely close. I even get light headed and feel faint watching others get a shot, even if it is on tv. Watching a tattoo be done does not bother me but shots do for some reason and I do not know why. I have to get my wisdom teeth out soon and I know that I have to get an I.V. for the anesthesia since where I live they do not do a mask for it anymore. I’m terrified of the needle and I know they can give you a pill to relax you before they do it but I do not think this will help me. I do not tense up when I get shots so this is not why. It is just an outright subconscious fear of needles. I think it may be because I saw my sister get a flu shot once when I was young (about 6) and she fainted from it and I saw it and have been scared of them since. Is this why or is there another reason? Is there any way to get over my fear and keep me from fainting from it?

Thursday, February 18th, 2010I was doing one of the UGLIEST tasks ever today.. I was renewing my car license.. and I went to what I call the CO2 room.. that’s where you get to pay for your tickets and violations to get a certificate.. man it was like mince meat in there and I thought to myself.. why the hell is the government so paranoid about the swine flu issue in schools and they tell the kids that whoever won’t get a face mask won’t be allowed to school and stuff like that.. even the Dettol disappeared from the market.. how the hell do they leave a place like this without any attention.. the employee leaves her place for like half an hour (probably stuffing her belly inside somewhere) and people pile up at her window and this guy is sneezing and that guy is coughing. I was thinking do we really have something called ministry of health?
