We have non-refundable hotel and airline tickets, but with the swine flu (or h1n1 whatever it’s called now) should we just scrap it? We really, really want to go and think we could be safe by wearing a mask, washing hands, alcohol wipes, etc. Would we be idiots to go, or is this an acceptable risk?

Monday, February 8th, 2010Am I Safe From The Swine Flu In Cancun? Or Safer In Minnesota?
Monday, December 7th, 2009I left April 18th on vacation to mexico. First I stayed a week at a resort called Barcelo Tropical in Playa Del Carmen, now I am in Cancun at a friends house he rented. I leave April 28th to Minnesota. The whole swine flu thing is very suprising and I did not expect it. 67 sick in the USA and over 2000 suspected diagnosed in Mexico. My parents told me that I should take major caution but considering we are in Cancun where cases have not been REPORTED or SERIOUS that I do not have to be paranoid because the flu is surrounding mexico city and cities around it which is 12 hours from Cancun by car maybe more. Am I in any danger? If so what level of danger? When I come back to minnesota, should I get checked even if I feel completely fine? Is it correct that I wash my hands a lot more then needed and don’t touch my eyes or mouth? Should I wear a face mask in the airport when I leave? And last 152 deaths reported in the whole world and that is only mexico, there are 6 billion people, why is everyone terrified of something when there is so little of it? Thanks a lot.
